Chapel

Within this project, we treated architectural creation as if it were an analogy for poetry creation. When navigating through the chapel, one's experience mirrors that of reading a sonnet. The length of the first three bays are the same as one walks down the center aisle mimicking the first three quartets of a sonnet. The final bay is half the length as the previous three just as the couplet at the end of the sonnet follows the same condition. Repetition and rhythm of the rhyme scheme materialize as the wood slats drape over each window. Evocation of an emotional response either through introspection or due to external factors is another facet shared by the chapel and a sonnet.
